Prosthesis for a Fallen Giant pays homage to an ancient copper beech tree that once grew near the entrance leading to Highfield Hall. The huge tree was recently damaged and all that now remains is the tree’s stump. The base of the sculpture is physically attached to the stump and conforms to its shape. The base transitions to a vertical trunk that extends upward and supports a beech sapling that humbly marks the void created where the giant tree fell.
